Description
When your business operations expand into other states, you’re generally required to register your business in that new state. This requirement can be triggered when your company:
- Opens an office in that new state;
- Hires an employee in the state;
- Provides services physically in the state; or
- Ships product to the state that exceeds the state’s de minimis threshold.

Please note: In addition to the legal fees listed here, we’ll collect a $500 refundable deposit to pay state filing fees. Any portion of that deposit that we are not required to pay to the state on your behalf will be returned to you when our work is complete.
Now for the fine print:
- Governmental filing fees are not included; we collect a $500 deposit to pay those to governmental entities on your behalf. This deposit must be paid before we begin our work. If we do not spend the full $500 deposit, the excess will be returned to you.
- All fees paid are considered earned on receipt, i.e., the funds are the law firm’s funds on payment, and will not be placed into our client trust account. This arrangement does not alter your right to terminate our attorney-client relationship. If our relationship is terminated before we complete our services, you may or may not be entitled to a refund of a portion of the fee.
- To determine if a refund is due, we will calculate the value of the services performed based on our hourly rates in effect at the time of performance. Any amount paid over such calculation will be refunded to you. If based on that calculation funds are due to the firm, Skepsis Legal reserves the right to auto-bill your payment method on file for the difference between the amount paid and the value of services based on the hourly calculation just described.
